Why You Should Soak Almonds Before Eating

Is there a time when you should not grab your daily dose of almonds? Well, not really.

You’ve undoubtedly heard that a handful of almonds is a perfect afternoon snack. Full of proteins and healthy fats, they are also good to eat with the meal after your workout sessions. But in this article, i will let you know that you could gain more even benefits when eating almonds.

It`s a simple trick of putting your almonds in water and thereby soaking them before you eat them.

Now, let me tell you why

The difference between raw almonds and soaked almonds

When you soak almonds, you awaken the almonds from the dry hibernate state they have been in. Some enzymes that are much better for your stomach are released, and the healthy things that almonds contain are more accessible, and they become much easier for your stomach to digest.

Furthermore they actually taste much better, if you were to be a bit skeptical about eating almonds that have been soaked.

More benefits of eating soaked almonds

As mentioned above, it is easier for your stomach to digest almonds that have been soaked. In fact, they also help digestion because the enzyme lipase is released, and therefore giving you an even better digestion.

Eating too much is never good. Nor is it when it comes to almonds. But small doses is always good. A handful of almonds helps you not overeat because they contain healthy fats that help keep you full and limits your appetite.

Most people love antioxidants (because they help slow wrinkles down), and almonds contain vitamin E, which acts as antioxidants. If you are thinking about having a baby, i should also add that almonds contain folic acid, which helps reduce fetal damage.

Here’s how you soak almonds

When you soak your almonds, the scale is 2:1. So if you put a deciliter of almonds in water, then you should do so in two deciliters of water. Let them soak overnight in the refrigerator (eight to twelve hours). Afterward, you drain the water.

You can either let them dry for eight to twelve hours and then put them in an airtight container or simply just leaving them moist in the sealed container. However, they can only last for a few days in the refrigerator, whereas dried can last about a week.
